maria69 I suggest you read the whole thread to truly understand where I'm coming from as I won;t repeat myself and this debate is for the most part done for as you will realize when you see the exchange we had and do not mind the interloping troll who contributes nothing to the debate at hand...

And I want to be clear that I do not peg all Puertorrican descendants on the mainland as being the way I describe but there is sure a whole lot that they are and they do piss us off!

My main problem with this is that the Hatred is tended to be shown towards ALL of us as if we all are exactly the same. That is the bullshit I can't tolerate from some native Puerto Ricans. It just plain out looks bad to stereotype and show prejudice against your own kind just because he/she was born elsewhere. Another thing that really irritates me is that most Puerto Ricans from the states tend to generaly respect thoes that come from the Island. If this hostility continues, The natives will only create war amongst their own people, which is truely pathetic. Also to note, Many natives seem to forget or have a lack of knowledge on where their flag was created. As I stated before, Some of the ricans from the state want independance for their own natural greed because they dont want to be classified as Americans or for some other selfish reason. Does that mean we are all the same way? Heck no. I sure aint and I was born and raised in NYC.

I understand that but as you can see it is largely because of the attitude of many of those decendants that people here feel the way they do I admit it is unfar for people to peg all Decendants like that but it is the result of the reputation that many have brought upon themselves. Another thing I've noticed is how out of touch both NewYorrican and Puertorricans are from each other. Newyorricans (again not all of them) have this distorrted time stood still in the island when it comes to Puerto Rico I mean they have so called Casitas that they have built in NYC and many of them think it is the way we live here to this day and age and that is so far removed from the truth is not even funny. While some people may still live in such housing most now live in what ranges from Public housing projects to Suburbs, Townhouses and Apartment buidings you name it...

These casitas or whateva you are talking about, I have never heard a former nuyorican ever talk about or even compare any home in NY to one in PR. I think your basing your judgement on VERY few of us you have run into and thats the problem with the Islanders. I've noticed alot of them are extremely prejudice and racist. They get angry at alot of the ricans in the state because we get along with other people from diffrent cultures. Most islanders are just cocky ass holes whom think they are better than anyone else. Sometimes it may seem as we are the bad ones but I think alot of ricans should take a look at themselves and see the hate in the mirror. I wont judge all of the Islanders because I know they arent all like that, even if I have suffered discrimination from a couple. Sometimes I wonder if I should even feel proud. I mean, Most of them are just so full of hate pero yo sigo pichando, y contento.

Casitas NYC

This would bew the casitas I'm reffering too they were built back in '98 by a few NewYorricans in a land reclamation project That's how a lot of people lived over 50 years but not anymore...

http://www.cityfarmer.org/casitas.html

And the notion that you have about us Islanders being angry at their descendants because they get along with other cultures could not be any further from the truth as pegging all Puertorican decendants as being selfish pro independence hacks that have never lived here nor do they intend too you acuse of generalizing and yet you do precisely the same...

But it all comes down on how out of touch both cultures have become, mind you we have people living in Puerto Rico from China, The Middle East you name it and we live alongside them just fine, we do not even live in segregated neighborhoods...

The only inmigrant group I'm wary off is the Palestinians and mostly because of their religion and what possible indoctrination they may have seeign what has happened in other places of the world regarding muslims...

And off course the stampede of illegals stemming from the Dominican Republic...

Don't you see I could say the same based solely on the NewYorricans I've encountered or watch on TV documentaries? That while not all most of them seem to be inclined toward making Puerto Rico an independent state even though they do not live here nor do they intend too?

what we both have is a view distorted by those we get to observe whether in person or in TV.
